WHAT DOES MEDITATION DO?Meditation is a mind and body practice that has a long history of use for increasing calmness and physical relaxation, improving psychological balance, coping with illness, and enhancing overall health and well-being. Many studies have been conducted to look at how meditation may be helpful for a variety of conditions, such as high blood pressure, certain psychological disorders, and pain. A number of studies also have helped researchers learn how meditation might work and how it affects the brain. - National Institute of Health.

A few easy ways to meditate are:
  1. Close your eyes and take 3 deep breaths. You can continue by focusing on your breathing.
  2. Close your eyes and say Om (inside or outside of your head) on your out breath.
  3. Close your eyes and count to 10, when you realize a thought came in and distracted you, start back at 1, otherwise repeat after 10.
  4. Close your eyes and concentrate on each part of your body, one by one. Include your brain.
  5. Concentrate on your heart and the space around your heart.
  6. Concentrate on the seven chakras: Base, sacral, solar, heart, throat, 3rd eye and crown.
